Past Projects
Afghanistan
CAI involvement in this project has now been completed.
In the Afghan refugee camps of Shalman and Shamshatu, Childhealth Advocacy International’s work delivered healthcare to the Afghan refugee mothers and children.
The situation in Afghanistan remains unstable and the refugees are reluctant to return at this stage.
Samrin aged 3 has suffered repeated attacks of respiratory tract infections and chronic diarrhoea since birth and was a regular visitor to the CAI clinic.
She was investigated to find the cause of her problem which could be cystic fibrosis or immune deficiency.
Samrin’s parents have seven other children to care for and very little money.
When Samrin said “Mummy take me to the doctor I am dying” her parents didn’t know what to do for their lovely and innocent daughter.
Samrin’s father said “We can’t go to our own village because of uncertain security and war. We don’t know what will happen to our life like millions of other Afghans.”
