Dr Peter McCormick, who has worked with us in Cameroon was awarded the 2004 Denis Burkitt Fellowship of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, London.
The success of CAI's Burkitt's Lymphoma programme continues with many more children receiving help.

Unfortunately, money is starting to run short on this programme and funds are urgently needed to keep this much needed treatment available.
At the end of January 2004 CAI’s Programme Director, Meggie Szczesny visited the projects in Cameroon and was most impressed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma work.
“The poverty is appalling in Bamenda and these children would just not survive without our help” said Meggie.
The average monthly wage in Bamenda is £6 per month and the cost of treatment for Burkitt’s Lymphoma is around £200.
Work is also continuing in improving the paediatric, neonatal and obstetric services at Bamenda Hospital.
Dr Peter McCormick is particularly proud of the breast milk bank, set up to help premature and sick babies in the neonatal unit.
CAI is delighted to report that the Cameroon Government has now appointed a paediatrician to Bamenda Hospital.
